[BUG] Empty prefab returns exception
« on: February 13, 2020, 02:21:40 AM »
Hello,

We are having deep issues with this particular use case.
Version: latest beta 4.1b1

Steps to reproduce this error:
  • Add an empty game object in any scene
  • Add the Highlight Effect component to the GameObject, and enable the "Highlighted" check
  • Run the scene

This exception is repeatedly thrown and nothing is visible in camera:
Code
NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
HighlightPlus.HighlightEffect.BuildCommandBuffer (UnityEngine.Camera cam) (at Assets/Packages/HighlightPlus/Runtime/Scripts/HighlightEffect.cs:393)
HighlightPlus.HighlightEffect.GetCommandBuffer (UnityEngine.Camera cam, UnityEngine.Rendering.RenderTargetIdentifier colorAttachmentBuffer, UnityEngine.Rendering.RenderTargetIdentifier depthAttachmentBuffer) (at Assets/Packages/HighlightPlus/Runtime/Scripts/HighlightEffect.cs:380)
HighlightPlus.HighlightPlusRenderPassFeature+HighlightPass.Execute (UnityEngine.Rendering.ScriptableRenderContext context, UnityEngine.Rendering.Universal.RenderingData& renderingData) (at Assets/Packages/HighlightPlus/Pipelines/URP/HighlightPlusRenderPassFeature.cs:41)
***** TRUNCATED BECAUSE IT CONTAINS AT SYMBOL  ******

This is particularly troublesome for some prefabs we are using that have no visible gameobjects inside until runtime.

Thank you
